Boy Scout Leader, Town Meeting Member Michael G. Bernardi, 89

FRAMINGHAM – Michael George Berardi, Sr., 89 of Framingham, passed away Friday evening April 7, 2017 after a long illness.

He was born and raised in Bellingham, the eldest son of George and Ethel (Bennett) Berardi.

Bernardi was married to his beloved wife Rena (Carbonello) Berardi for 62 years, who died in 2013.

He was very active in the community. Bernardi was an elected town meeting member in Framingham.

He was active with the Boy Scouts from his youth, and was a Boy Scout Leader for Troop 1 through his adult years. Awarded for his service with the scouts, he also served on the BSA Knox Trail Council.

Bernardi was involved with his church Saint Tarcisius as a Holy Name member, volunteer and Sunday usher.  He was an active member of Knights of Columbus Coeur de Leo Council as well as Columbus Club of Framingham.

After graduating from Bellingham High School, he studied business at Hill College in Rhode Island. He worked for First National Grocery Stores and then at the General Motors in Framingham for 36 years.

Bernardi was a sports fan and a talented multi-sport athlete in his youth. In his adult life, he became an avid golfer and gardener.  His favorite activity was spending time with his family.

He will be remembered with great affection by his family: Thomas Berardi and Deirdre Grenier of Northborough, Paul and Paula Berardi of Hopkinton, Mary-Anne and Warner Guild of Hopkinton, Michael and Kathleen Berardi of Northborough, Jo-Ellen McCarrick and Raymond LeSage of Uxbridge. He also leaves five grandchildren: Marielle Berardi, Barret and Blair Guild, Allison and Lauren Berardi as well as a large extended family of nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to his visiting hours at the Norton Funeral Home, 53 Beech Street in Framingham on Tuesday, April 11 from 4 to 8 p.m.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Tarcisius Church, Framingham on Wednesday, April 12, at 10 a.m. followed by burial at St. Tarcisius Cemetery.
