FRAMINGHAM – Local non-profit organization OUT MetroWest has teamed up again with Framingham High School’s Gay/Straight Alliance (GSA) to host its popular Trivia Night fundraiser.
This year’s event will take place at Framingham High School on Saturday, April 8 from 6 to 9 p.m.
Trivia Night is open to all, and last year’s event drew 300 community members of diverse ages and backgrounds.
Ticket sales benefit OUT MetroWest’s programs for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) youth. Participants are divided into teams of eight to compete in a trivia contest, and prizes are awarded to the winners. Trivia contest winners are not the only guests to leave the event with prizes−the evening also features a silent auction with sought-after items such as gift certificates, art, and high-end electronics.
“Trivia Night attendees have a blast, and LGBTQ young people benefit. It’s a win-win,” said Julie Blazar, OUT MetroWest’s director of communication and operations.
Tickets are $20 for adults and $15 for youth.
Tickets will NOT be sold at the door this year.
Final day to purchase tickets is Friday, March 31. Trivia Night tickets are available at www.outmetrowest.org.
Framingham resident and OUT MetroWest volunteer Susan Catterall Francis coordinates Trivia Night.
“Now, more than ever, LGBTQ youth need to know that the community sees and supports them, and this event is an easy and fun way to turn out in force for MetroWest young people. We’re especially grateful to our partner, FHS GSA, and to the many individuals and businesses that have donated food, supplies, and silent auction items,” said Francis.
OUT MetroWest runs three programs for middle and high school youth, totaling eight meetings each month. Meetings are educational, social, and supportive and are held in Framingham, Newton, and Wellesley. The organization also provides workshops in the community to enhance understanding of gender identity and sexual orientation, as well as events for LGBTQ parents and their families.
