Tierney Earns Spot on Assumption Lacrosse Team

WORCESTER – The Assumption College Department of Athletics announced Timothy Tierney, of Framingham, has earned a coveted spot on the College’s 2017 men’s lacrosse team.

Tierney, Class of 2020, will compete during the Greyhounds’ spring season. A defensemen, Tierney is a former Framingham Flyer.

“I am very excited to see the growth and development of our 2017 team,” said fifth-year head coach Keith Loftis. “We are a very young, but talented, coachable and hard-working group. Our goal is to become a nationally competitive Division II lacrosse program and to compete for a Northeast-10 Conference Championship.”

The Assumption men’s lacrosse team was picked 10th in the Northeast-10 Men’s Lacrosse Preseason Poll.

Though Assumption is coming off a 3-8 season, Loftis is hoping to build on the young talent as well as capitalize on the return of seven of the team’s top eight scorers from a season ago as well as both of their top goalies.

Founded in 1904 by the Augustinians of the Assumption in Worcester, Assumption College offers 43 majors and 48 minors in the liberal arts, sciences, business, and professional studies, through an educational experience grounded in the rich Catholic intellectual tradition coupled with professional programs.
