FRAMINGHAM – The Green Lantern is a DC Comics Super hero. He has a “green lantern ring” that grants the wearer incredible powers and abilities by harnessing willpower.
The Green Lantern is Devin Suau’s favorite character. Suau is a Stapleton Elementary student, battling a rare and inoperable brain tumor. It has no cure at the moment but his family is hoping he will be the first to beat DIPG, his diagnosis. They have launched the hashtag #WhyNotDevin
If only the willpower of Framingham could cure Devin, but you can still help the Suau family.
Help harness the love in Framingham for Devin, by turning the lights outside your home into “Green Lanterns.” Several neighborhoods have already started changing their light bulbs to green ones.
Jeff, the owner of Robinsons Hardware in the Pinefield Shopping Plaza in Saxonville, is joining the campaign. Call Robinsons at 508-877-1888 or stop by to pre-order green bulbs. Proceeds from the orders will go directly to the #WhyNotDevin fund. The first order is expected to arrive Wednesday, March 15.
In January, after a fall from a snowboard, Suau was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor, and given a diagnosis of less than two years to live. He was diagnosed with Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG), which is a very rare and aggressive form of cancer typically found in children under the age of 10. There is no cure and no one has survived the diagnosis.
The family is hoping to get Devin in a trial to defeat this diagnosis. A GoFundMe has been set up to raise $250,000. More than $220,000 has been raised.
