Former Flyer Scores 5 Goals To Lead Wheaton College Lax To Victory in Home Opener

NORTON – Wheaton College freshman Molly Covarrubias scored five goals and registered two assists, as the College’s women’s lacrosse team won their home opener on Sunday afternoon.

Covarrubias played lacrosse for Framingham High for four years, and was a captain of the Flyers program.

Wheaton College defeated Lasell College’s Lasers 12-4 Sunday afternoon, March 5 to go 1-1 on the season.

Also getting on the board for Wheaton was senior Giovanna Bishop (two goals, four assists), junior Megan Hemmerlein (one goal), sophomore Kennelly Allerton (one goal), senior Hannah Gasperoni (one goal), senior Lydia Regan (one goal) and senior Angela Mallis(one goal).

Lasell held the 16-14 advantage on ground balls, while Wheaton held the 12-6 mark on draw controls.

Wheaton hosts Keene State next on Thursday with game time set for 4 p.m.
