Massachusetts Attorney General Calls For Resignation of U.S. Attorney General

BOSTON – Massachusetts Attorney General Maura Healey is calling for the resignation of U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions, today, March 2.

“As an American, as a state Attorney General, and as a leader of a law enforcement agency, I am saddened and deeply troubled by the new revelations about Attorney General Sessions. My office works closely with the U.S. Department of Justice to uphold the rule of law, ensure public safety and protect our rights. That partnership depends upon trust and integrity. It appears that Mr. Sessions perjured himself in front of the Senate Judiciary Committee and lied about meeting with agents of the Russian government. Our nation is entitled to a Department of Justice and an Attorney General we can trust – and we cannot trust Jeff Sessions,” said Healey in a statement.

“Attorney General Sessions should resign his position immediately,” said Healey.

“I join the bipartisan calls for a thorough and independent investigation of the Trump administration’s political, personal, and financial connections to Russia,”
