Rev. John J. Wallace, 83

FRAMINGHAM – Rev. John J. Wallace, F.M.S.I, 83, a member of the Sons of Mary, Health of the Sick in Framingham for more than 60 years, died peacefully on February 6, 2017.

He was ordained to the priesthood on Feb. 2, 1960.

Born in Boston to Irish immigrants Thomas & Norah (Keane) Wallace, Rev. John was educated at Gate of Heaven School in So. Boston, and was a 1954 graduate of Boston College.  He ultimately earned his Masters Degree from St. John’s Seminary in Boston.

Rev. John missioned in Peru in 1969 and again in 1982, and later the Philippines, the Dominican Republic, and Honduras where he spent the last 16 years.

He is survived by his siblings, Robert M. of So. Boston, formerly of Ashland, and Mary M. Connor of Lynnfield, seven nieces and nephews, and his Sons of Mary, Health of the Sick family. Besides his parents, Rev. John was predeceased by his nephew John Wallace.

Family and friends will honor and remember Rev. John’s life by gathering for visiting hours in St. Stephen’s Church, 221 Concord St., Framingham, on Thursday, February 9, from 4 to 8 p.m.

His Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday morning in the church at 10 o’clock.  Interment will follow in St. Stephen’s Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made in Rev. John’s name to: The Sons of Mary Missionary Society, 567 Salem End Road, Framingham, MA 01702.
