NEEDHAM – The Framingham High gymnastics team defeated Needham High on the road Tuesday night.
The Flyers defeated the Rockets 132.7 to 130.55.
The Flyers finish the regular season 7-2, and will compete in the Bay State Conference meet on Saturday at Newton North High School at 9:30 a.m.
“Tonight was the senior meet for both teams and I can’t believe high school gymnastics is almost over for me,” said senior captain Stephanie Fawell.
“However, I’m glad that I’m leaving the team while it’s on the rise. I have no doubt that Framingham will continue to improve and succeed with this incredible group of hardworking girls in the years to come. I can’t wait for our league meet this Saturday to showcase how much we’ve grown,” said Fawell.
Last night, Framingham finished second and third in the all-around competition.
Framingham freshman Tiffany Chan tied for second place, with a score of 8.5. Framingham Junior captain Rachel Lew finished third.
Framingham won three out of the four apparatus events Tuesday night.
Framingham sophomore Amanda Fawell won the vault with a score of 8.4.
Freshman, Sara Anastasi won the uneven bars with a personal best 8.9. It was the highest bar score of the season, said Fawell.
Anastasi tied for first in the floor exercises with a 9.0. Lew finished third with an 8.6
