Poku Finishes Second at Janiak Track Meet

NEW BEDFORD – Framingham High sophomore Grace Poku finished second in the 55 meter-dash at the Walter “Ziggy” Janiak track meet at Greater New Bedford Regional Vocational Technical High School today, February 5.

The annual track meet for freshmen and sophomores is named after a Naval Veteran, who was the first superintendent of that school.

Framingham had less than a dozen trackers compete at the meet, according to head coach Chris Collins.

Poku ran the 55-meter dash in 7.95 seconds.

Sophomore captain Clara Small finished fourth in the 600 meter race. Her time was 1:56.53 minutes.

Sophomore Laura Walkup finished sixth in the high jump, with a leap of 4-feet, 4-inches.

Next up for the Framingham High girls indoor track team is the Bay State Conference meet on Wednesday, Feb. 8.

A handful of Flyers have qualified for the state meet scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 18.
