BRAINTREE – Framingham High gymnastics team won its sixth meet of the season Friday night on the road.
The Flyers defeated Braintree High 133.75 to 130.65.
The Flyers are now 6-2 on the season.
“We have had a couple of girls injure themselves in the past week, so we had to change around our line-up a bit. All week the girls have been trying events that they don’t usually compete on to fill in the gaps,” said senior captain Stephanie Fawell.
“I personally was nervous to compete on bars for the first time this season, but we ended up doing really well. The support we showed our teammates tonight was definitely a key factor in earning us the win,” said Fawell.
Freshman Sara Anastasi had the highest scores in three out of the four events for Framingham.
Top scores in vault for the Flyers were Amanda Fawell and freshman Tiffany Chan both at 8.6 and junior captain Rachel Lew at 8.65.
Sophomore Amanda Fawell had a personal best on the uneven bars at 8.05. Anastasi was the top Flyer on the bars at 8.55.
Junior Bryn McIlhinny scored an 8.3 on the balance beam. Chan scored an 8.6, with Anastasi leading the Flyers again with a 9.0 on beam.
The top three Flyers on floor exercises were Lew at 8.3, Chan at 8.45 and Anastasi at 8.75.
