FRAMINGHAM – Muriel A. (Norton) Fearebay, 89, passed away on Jan. 16, 2017.
The daughter of Henry and Mary (Sullivan) Norton of Framingham, she attended St. Stephen Elementary School and graduated from Framingham High School.
She was a switchboard operator for New England Telephone in Framingham but moved to Washington, D.C. after marrying Harold Fearebay, who worked for the FBI.
Upon returning to this area she worked for 20 years at Waseeka Farm in Ashland.
In her later years, she worked full-time making medical equipment and for a local Hallmark shop.
She was known for her singing voice and frequently sang “Ave Maria” at weddings and church events. She was a member of St. Stephen Parish of Framingham and also of St. Cecilia Church in Ashland, where she sang in the choir for many years.
As a young adult she had a local weekly radio show with her father, who played piano while she sang, and she once was offered an audition for a Boston television talent show (she chose to stay in Framingham with her family.
Her hobbies included knitting for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and painting accurate colors on the life-like bird carvings done by her husband. They both enjoyed making toys and craft items that they sold at craft shows.
Predeceased by her parents, husband, two sisters, and one brother; she is survived by her brother, Daniel Norton of Framingham; sons Dennis and his wife Lorinda Fearebay of Berlin, Stephen and Dianne Fearebay of Framingham, David Fearebay of Holliston, and Thomas Fearebay of Framingham; as well as 9 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
Burial will follow at St. Stephen Cemetery, Framingham.
