Framingham Heart Study Participant Janice Abbot, 95

FRAMINGHAM – Janice P. Abbot, 95, passed away peacefully on January 16, 2017 in Framingham.

She was born on June 1, 1921 in Glens Falls, New York to Edward G. and Ada E. Parker.

She graduated from Framingham High School.

After high school, she attended Westbrook Junior College in Maine and Katharine Gibbs College in Boston. She worked for Framingham Savings Bank, New England Telephone and Field Facts.

She married Stuart R. Abbot in Southborough on October 11, 1947.  They were happily married for 56 years.

She was a volunteer tutor for Literacy Unlimited for 10 years.

She was also a participant in the Framingham Heart Study.

Abbot is survived by her children, Carol A. Abbot and her partner, Julie A. Jones, of Sudbury,  David P. Abbot and his wife Barbara of N. Stonington, CT, and Susan V. Lynch and her husband Christopher of Medway; her grandchildren, Cerissa Gatewood and her husband Tyler of Medway, MA and Nolan Lynch of Plainville. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Frances Parker of Wisconsin, and numerous nieces and nephews from around the United States.

Family and friends will celebrate Janice’s life by gathering at the McCarthy, McKinney & Lawler Funeral Home, 11 Lincoln St. Framingham, on Saturday January 21 from 4 to 7 p.m.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to Sudbury Valley Trustees at 18 Wolbach Road, Sudbury, MA 01776 or The Framingham Heart Study at 73 Mt. Wayte Avenue, Framingham, MA  01702.
