What’s Open & Closed on Martin Luther King Jr. Day

FRAMINGHAM, MA – Martin Luther King Day is a federal holiday held on the third Monday of January. It celebrates the life and achievements of civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr.

The Greater Framingham Community Church will hold its 30th Annual breakfast to honor Martin Luther King Jr today.

State and federal offices will be closed in observance of the holiday, while retail stores and most other businesses will be open.

Framingham Source will be closed today except for breaking news.

Here’s a look at what’s open and what’s closed on Monday, Jan. 16:

  • Town offices: Closed
  • Schools: Closed
  • Libraries: Closed
  • Banks: Closed
  • Post offices: Closed, but express and Amazon delivery may take place.
  • Retail stores: Open
  • Grocery stores: Open
  • Liquor stores: Open

There is no curbside trash collection. Framingham will be on a one-day schedule all week.
