FRAMINGHAM – The Wildcats of Weymouth shut out the Framingham High girls ice hcokey team 5-0 at Loring Arena Saturday.
“Both teams played hard,” said Framingham head coach Mitch Mortali.
The Flyers are now 2-5 on the season, and still looking for their first Conference win (0-3).
Framingham senior captain Emma Lowry played in net, but in the final couple minutes Chloe Willis played in net for Framingham.
Despite the loss, Mortali said freshman Georgia Parker “showed great speed on a breakaway that hit the post.”
Captain Kaycie Downing had a soldi game. Flyer Jess Despres blocked shots.
Mortali said his team left the rink, with their heads held high.
“Everyone played and played to the best of their capabilities,” said Mortali.
“We were hungry for rebounds and going to the net, but were a little bit snakebitten and their goalie was great,” said Mortali.
“We will keep up the effort and the goals will come. I truly believe that,” said Mortali, after the game.
He said the team had great “effort and attitude.”
Next up for the Flyers are the Mustangs of Norwood on Wednesday, January 18 at 4 p.m. at Loring Arena.
