Born in Milford, he was the son of the late Anna M. (Egan) Gibbons & her husband George W. Bill is the husband of Phyllis A. (Beland) Smalley.
After spending his formative years in Winthrop, he went on to graduate from Bentley College in 1970 with an accounting degree, and went to work for Raytheon where he retired in 1990.
Salley enjoyed his time dancing with the Fair’s n Squares, was an avid golfer, a passionate Boston sports fan, and a former member of the Patriots Huddle. Above all else, he cherished anything and everything having to do with his grandchildren.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his daughters, Jenifer Blodgett of Hopkinton, and Melissa Purinton & her husband Thomas J. of Blackstone, five grandchildren, Erin and Joseph Blodgett, and Hailey, Jacob and Connor Purinton, his siblings, Robert S. and his wife Eleanor of Bridgewater, and Patricia Clark & her husband Joseph of Winthrop, and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Family and friends will honor and remember Bill’s life by gathering for visitation in the Holy Family Chapel of St. Patrick’s Manor, 863 Central St., Framingham on Tuesday morning, January 3, from 8:30 to 9:45 a.m. A funeral Mass will follow at 10 o’clock. Interment Notre Dame Cemetery in Worcester Worcester.
