MILLBURY – Former Framingham Town Manager and current Framingham Charter Commissioner George P King Jr. is one of three finalists for the Town Manager position in Millbury, a community in Worcester County with a population of about 13,000.
King, who was one of nine Framingham residents elected to the Charter Commission this past spring, is presently the principal at Hale Middle School in Stow.
King will be interviewed tonight, Dec. 14 for the position.
The other finalists are Harwich Town Administrator Christopher Clark and Lunenburg Interim Town Manager David J. Marciello.
Millbury Selectmen may vote on a new Town Manager as quickly as Thursday, Dec. 15.
King, who until recently was both the assistant superintendent for the Nashoba Valley Regional School District and principal of Hale Middle, served as Framingham Town Manager from 1999 to 2005.
King’s contract with the Nashoba Regional School district ends in 2020. King, who has been with the Nashoba Valley Regional School district since 2005, has a salary of about $157,000 a year.
The Town of Millbury ‘s manager Bob Spain retired this summer. Bernie Plante has been serving as interim town manager. Millbury borders the City of Worcester.
