PLYMOUTH, NH – The Framingham State University men’s basketball team took to the road this evening and was defeated 73-54 by Plymouth State University at Foley Gymnasium in non-conference action.
With the win, Plymouth improves to 5-2 on the year, while the Rams slip to 2-5 overall.
The Rams were led by a double double effort of 11 points and 10 rebounds, including five offensive, from junior Tony Alexandre .
Sophomore Manny Payton (chipped in with 10 points and four boards, while freshman Steve Vayda added nine points off the bench on 3-of-5 from behind the arc.
The Panthers opened up an early 11-3 lead in the game’s first five minutes and used an 11-0 run to extend the lead to 22-6 midway through the first. The Rams closed the half with five of the frame’s final eight points to head into the locker room trailing 40-24.
The Panthers extended the lead to as many as 20 in the second half as they capitalized on another pair of scoring runs.
The Panthers shot 46% from the field (24-of-52) to just 32% for the Rams who connected on just 18-of-57 attempts.
The Rams are back in action on Thursday at Clark University for a 7 p.m. non-conference matchup.
