5 Things You Need To Know Today in Framingham: Wednesday, Nov. 23

1 Today is an early release day for all Framingham Public School students. No lunch will be served.

At the high school, a special “unity” photo is scheduled outside on the field at 8: 45 a.m.

At 10 a.m. will be the annual pep rally. It is optional but students who do not attend must leave the building. It is closed to the public.

Instead, the community is invited to the pep rally tonight at Bowditch Field with a bonfire. It starts at 6:30 p.m.


2.  The Framingham Classic 5K Road Race takes place on Thanksgiving Day . The start and the finish line is at the Framingham Police Station. The race is sold out. No same day registration.

Today, between 1 and 4 p.m. runners may pick up their numbers at the Framingham Elks. The 22nd Annual road race begins at 8 a.m. Thanksgiving Day.


3. The main Framingham Library and the Christa McAuliffe branch library will both close at 5;30 p.m. today. Both libraries will be closed on Thursday, but will re-open on Friday.

4. This afternoon volunteers will cook and serve a Thanksgiving dinner for students at the Hoops & Homework programs at both Pusan Road and Interfaith Terrace. Hoops & Homework founder and president Herb Chasan estimates 300 people will get a meal. If you would like to help, click here.

Tomorrow, more than 2,000 individuals will be served a Thanksgiving meal at Eagles Hall on Park Street from noon to 6 p.m. as part of the 28th Annual Curtis Family Thanksgiving. Tonight, volunteers will cut potatoes, slice onions, peel carrots, and more in preparation.

Organizers said the event has become so successful they have had to turn away volunteers on “prep night.” No extra volunteers are needed tonight, if you had not already signed up previously.


5. The Mt. Wayte Bridge is scheduled to be paved today between 9 a.m and 2 p.m. Traffic will be managed utilizing a one lane alternating traffic management plan. Expect delays
