Sewfisticated Fabrics Closes Downtown Location; Moves To Route 9

FRAMINGHAM – Sewfisticated Fabrics is now operating on Route 9 west in Framingham.

The popular fabric store has closed its downtown Framingham, and moved to a new location next to Citizen’s Bank on Route 9, near the intersection of Route 126.

Sewfisticated Discount Fabrics, which has three locations in Massachusetts, is owned by a husband and wife team with more than 70 years of combined experience in the fabric business.

The couple of have operated Sewfisticated Fabrics for more than 25 years. Every bolt of fabric is hand picked by Joan & John Olinto, who take frequent trips around the country searching manufactures and designers work rooms for the best quality and the best prices.

Besides fabric, the store also offers a selection of crafts, ribbons, trims & sewing supplies.

The couple opened their third location in downtown Framingham at 136 Howard Street in October of 2010, after the Fabric Place closed its doors in 2008 after 6 decades of operation.

The couple’s son Joe managed the downtown Framingham location, while Joan managed the location in Somerville, and John oversaw the Dorchester store.

The new Framingham location is at 303 Worcester Road.

The store is open Mondays through Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sundays noon to 6 p.m.
