FRAMINGHAM – The application deadline for the Boston Marathon 2017 Team Framingham is fast approaching said Framingham Assistant Town Manager Jim Fuane and Team Framingham 2017 Steering Committee Chair Mike Bower.
The application deadline is Monday, November 28 at 4 p.m.
Currently, 54 applications have been received for one of the 22 coveted invitational entries have been received, said Duane and Bower.
A record 84 applications were filed for the 2016 program.
The Framingham Board of Selectmen, at their meeting of September 27, appointed the following eight residents to the 2017 Team Framingham Steering Committee to oversee and manage the 2017 program, training and fundraising: Cherry Baram, Bower, Michael Cannon, Jenifer Feaster, Stuart Hurowitz, Chris Kelley, Tricia Brennan LaFond and Ed Stoll.
The Steering Committee held its first meeting on Thursday November 3.
“The Steering Committee decided to schedule the first Team Framingham team meeting for the week of December 12 and the first team training run for Saturday, December 17,” said Bower. “This is a change from past years when the program officially launched in January. We encourage applicants for the upcoming lottery to start a running program as soon as possible so that they can hit the ground running when the training program begins next month.”
Applications for runners interested in participating in the random selection for these invitational entries are available on the Town of Framingham web-site for downloading or at the Board of Selectmen’s Office in the Memorial Building.
The random selection will take place on Monday, December 5 at 7 p.m. in the Ablondi Room at the Framingham Town Hall. It will be open to the public.
