ASHLAND — Monday afternoon, U.S. Senator Ed Markey joined Jack Patrick Lewis in visiting Ashland businesses.
Lewis is a Democrat from Framingham running for the 7th Middlesex state representative seat.
Three candidates are seeking to replace Rep. Tom Sannicandro in the district that represents all of Ashland and one-third of the 18 Precincts in Framingham. Sannicandro announced he would not seek another term in November 2015.
Sen. Markey and Lewis were joined on the campaign trail Monday with Rep. Sannicandro and state Sen. Karen Spilka, both who live in Ashland.
The foursome visited the Ashland Fire Station, Lunkers, Talvy Florists, Pizza Mine, and the Brasil America store. They ended the business tour at Nick’s Pizza, where they had a late lunch.
“I am excited to further connect with our town’s thriving downtown businesses and to highlight some of those businesses with Senator Markey and our local legislative delegation,” Lewis said.
Markey was elected to the U.S. Senate in a special election in 2013 and re-elected in 2014. Prior to that he was a U.S. Congressman for decades.
Election day is Tuesday, Nov. 8.
