FRAMINGHAM — Throughout the month of November, more than 30 Framingham Police Officers, including Chief Ferguson, have opted not to shave to raise money for a veterans charity.
Organized by Framingham Police Officer Lt, Robert Downing “No Shave November” will raise money for Home Base, a charity that benefits post Sept. 11. Veterans.
Each Framingham Police Officer donates $100 and that donation allows them to grow facial hair throughout the month.
The Framingham Police Officer Association and The Framingham Patrolman Association have each donated $500.
Also several local businesses and charities have begun to donate to the cause to include Turkey Classic Road Race, Exceptional Auto, Adesa Boston, Keli Hair Salon and neighbors of police officers etc.
More than $6,000 has already been raised, said the Framingham Police Department.
This morning, the “owner of the Center Barber Shop in Framingham, Mr. D, gave participating officers a complementary hot shave to kick off the event,” said Framingham Police. “Mr. D’s great great grandfather was a Veteran of WWI.”
