WELLESLEY – Framingham High swimmer Kara McCurdy repeated as Bay State Conference champion in both the 200-yard and 500-yard freestyle events on Sunday at Wellesley College.
McCurdy out-touched Natick’s Hana Batt to win the 200-yard freestyle in 1:58.39 minutes.
She had already previously qualified for both the sectional and state meet, with a 2:02.30 time earlier this season.
In the 500-yard distance event, McCurdy blew away the field of 42 swimmers with a time of 5:16.51 minutes. Her closest swimmer was Newton North’s Logan Gallagher at 5:27.99 minutes.
McCurdy’s best time this season headed into the Conference meet was 5:22.89 minutes.
McCurdy holds the Framingham High School record in the 500-yard freestyle with 5:14.26, which she set in winning the Bay State Conference title in November 2015.
McCurdy will compete at the sectional and state meet for Framingham in November.
“Kara is an outstanding swimmer,” said Foley. “She has been consistent in those events, working hard and improving all season.”
