SLIDESHOW: Natick Girls Win Wheeler Cup 7-0

FRAMINGHAM – On a cold rainy Saturday evening, the Redhawks defeated the Flyers 7-0 at Bowditch Field in the 21st Annual George Wheeler Memorial Soccer Cup.

The Natick girls soccer team is now 8-1 on the season, while Framingham falls to 2-5, under head coach Jen DeFusco.

Natick’s Sheila McQuillen scored four goals in the game, including a hat trick in the first half.

George Wheeler, who was an outstanding and highly respected athlete, teacher, coach, mentor, friend, parent, and grandparent who taught physical education and health in Framingham for 31 years, passed away in 1994 following a tough fight battling lymphoma and later leukemia.  He coached both boys and girls varsity soccer teams that won several Bay State League Conference Titles and one State title.

The annual game raises money for four awards given to Framingham and Natick High graduating senior soccer players.
