National Interscholastic Swimming Coaches Association Names Bower All-American Diver

Framingham High diver Halia Bower was named to the National Interscholastic Swimming Coaches Association All-American team for diving for the 2015-16 season.

Bower was one of 100 divers across the country who was named to the NISCA/Speedo girls one meter diving All-american team.

Bower, a junior on the 2016 Framingham High girls swim & dive team. started diving when she was 8 years old with the Charles River diving team. Her uncle Scott Pomerleau was a all-american diver.

Bower said she likes diving as it is a challenge both “mentally and physically.”

Her favorite dive is a “reverse dive.”

Her most difficult dive is a “back 2 and 1/2”

During the 2015-16 season, as a sophomore on the Framingham High girls swim & dive team, Bower consistently finished first in all of the dual meets. She finished second at the Bay State Conference meet in 2015.

Bower finished second in the state meet, improving on her third place finish as a freshman.

She would like to continue to compete in diving at the college level with a Division 1 school.
