SLIDESHOW: Grand Opening of the Heritage Gallery at the Callahan Center

FRAMINGHAM – Callahan Center Customer Service Manager Randy Aylsworth had an idea to bring more artists and crafters to the Callahan Center.

The Fountain Street Studios and Saxonville Studios open their locations to the public a couple of times a year, but most weeks the artsists’ works could not be viewed or made available to the public for purchase.

Now many artists and crafters are featured in the Artists’ Corner at the  Heritage Gallery inside the Callahan Center.

The Gallery now features photographs, jewelry, pottery, paintings, pillows, scarves, and much more from local artists.

On Tuesday, Sept 13, the Friends of the Callahan Center held a grand opening celebration of the new Gallery, with a ribbon cutting ceremony and live music.

A portion of all sales at the Gallery will go to the Friends of the Callahan Center, a 501C3 organizations, that supports programming and activities at the Callahan Center, said Friends President Mark Goldman.

The mission of the Callahan Center is to promote healthy, successful aging for our senior citizens, however many of the programs are open to the public.

The  gallery will be open starting next week, Sept. 19, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday.
