5 Things You Need To Know Today in Framingham: Tuesday, September 6

1 Due to yesterday’s Labor Day holiday, collection of trash and recycling will be on a one-day delayed cycle this week.

 

2. Framingham Selectmen’s meeting scheduled for tonight has been cancelled.

Framingham School Committee is scheduled to meet tonight at 7 at King Elementary School.

On the agenda is a public vote by the School Committee to name Edward Gotgart as Acting Superintendent in Scott’s absence and to vote to name Charles Gallo, the district’s director of finance, as a second person with signature authority for the district. And Walsh Principal Pat Johnson will discuss field trips to Washington DC and Costa Rica with the School Committee, for approval.

 

3. Today is the first day of school for Marian High School students.

 

4. Library events:

  • The Framingham Library will host a Munchkin event for teens at the Christa McAuliffe Library branch from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Munchkin is a card based, epic fantasy quest full of dragons, barbarians, monsters, gold, and cursed poultry. The event is for middle and high school students.
  • The main Framingham Library will host a book club meeting tonight at 7. The featured book is A Man Called Ove by Fredrik Backman

 

5. The Friends of the Callahan Center will host an artist reception with Mary Megill tonight from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at the Heritage Gallery at the Callahan Center.
