Tommy’s Taxi Celebrates 70th Anniversary

FRAMINGHAM – This week, Tommy’s Taxi marks a milestone – its 70th anniversary.

Founded in 1946 by John “Tommy” Thompson, the company has provided taxicab services throughout the MetroWest area continuously for 70 years.

Now owned and operated by Thompson’s daughter, Jo-Anne, Tommy’s Taxi prides itself on delivering safe and reliable transportation.

All of Tommy’s Taxi drivers are company employees, not independent contractors, and are licensed annually by the Framingham Police Department, which conducts a criminal background check. All vehicles are also inspected annually by the Framingham Police Department.

With its fleet of 30 vehicles and more than 50 drivers, mechanics, dispatchers, and office staff, Tommy’s Taxi yellow and red vehicles are a common sight throughout the streets of Framingham and MetroWest.

“We are grateful to the community for their loyalty and support. Many of our customers are long-time regulars, who have favorite drivers. And many of our drivers are career cab drivers, who have extensive knowledge of the area. We believe that taxis continue to be the safest and most reliable transportation option,” said Thompson in a press release.
