Southborough Brushing Fire Burning For 7th Day; Framingham Assisting

SOUTHBOROUGH — The Southborough Fire Department has been battling a brush fire since last Thursday.

Today, Engine 1 from the Framingham Fire Department is assisting the Southborough Fire Department, said Framingham Assistant Fire Chief Michael Dutcher. Engine 1 is housed at the Route 9 station in Framingham.

The fire has burned about two acres of land neat the Sudbury Reservoir.

Southborough Fire is reporting the fire near Pinecone Lane.

“The troublesome brush fire on the back side of the reservoir caused by significantly dry conditions compounded by difficult access by boat only, made for a long day for the crews from Southborough, Northborough and Ashland,” yesterday reported the fire department on its Facebook page.

Framingham is still on the scene of a deep-seated brush fire at Nobscot Reservation, that was controlled over the weekend, but continues to smolder. That fire burned more than six acres at the 480-acre property, owned by the Framingham Boy Scouts. At times, that fire was 8-10 inches deep under ground.
