5 Things You Need To Know Today in Framingham: Wednesday, July 27

1  The heatwave is expected to continue today, however, temperatures are expected to be above 90 degrees again today. The town’s trio of public beaches will be open today from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Beach tags are required to use Lake Waushakum, Saxonville Beach, and Learneds Pond. Beach tags may be purchased online or at the Framingham Parks & Recreation office on Union Avenue.

 

2. The main Framingham Library will host “Rolie Polie Guacamole” today from 3 to 4 p.m. The free concert, geared for school-age children and families, will feature original tunes and classic covers with vibrant harmonies, deft instrumental layers, and lyrics humming with relevance and humor.

3. Tonight, the Christa McAuliffe Library branch will host a Star Wars-themed story hour. Pre-registration is required for the 7-8 p.m. event in which attendees can create their own light saber. Attendees are also encouraged to dress up as a their favorite Star Wars character.

 

4. Barnes & Noble Booksellers in Shoppers World will hold a free storytime at 10:30 a.m. The featured book is President Squid.

 

5. The main Framingham Library will host a free bluegrass concert tonight at 7. The concert is sponsored in part by the Framingham Cultural Council, a local agency of the Massachusetts Cultural Council and in part by the Friends of the Framingham Library.
