FRAMINGHAM – The Framingham Historical Commission presented the recipients of the 2016 Preservation Achievement Awards at a ceremony on May 26 at Edgell Memorial Library. The winners were announced on April 28.
These projects have helped to preserve and promote important pieces of Framingham’s history.
The winners were:
- Donald and Daryl Levy, (Historic Properties Development Company, LLC) for the H. H. Richardson Train Depot and Luggage House, 417 Waverly Street, which opened as the Deluxe Depot Diner.
- Town of Framingham Parks and Recreation Department for the stabilization of the Revolutionary War veterans’ tombs
- Framingham State University for the John Fiske “1812” House, 13 Salem End Road
- Framingham History Center and the Town of Framingham, jointly for the Edgell Memorial Library, 3 Oak Street
“These historical assests are finite in number,” said Town Historian Fred Wallace to Access Framingham. “We tried to choose things, that have been restored and saved, which have special historical significance to the town.”
Access Framingham, a Framingham Source media partner, covered the awards ceremony.
