Framingham Police: Man Lied About Gunpoint Robbery at Shoppers World

A man lied about being robbed by gunpoint by four men at Shoppers World, according to Framingham Police.

Framingham Police Lt. Stephen Cronin said detectives questioned the man, after the report of the robbery on Monday, and his story kept changing.

Detectives believe he made up the report, said Lt. Cronin.

Police are still investigating.

The man, whose name and hometown have not been identified, has not been charged with filing a false police report, as of Wednesday morning.

The man called police on Monday afternoon and reported he was robbed at Shoppers World.

He said a sedan with four men in the vehicle, approached him. Two men got out of the vehicle and robbed him with a gun. The man said the vehicle drove away towards Route 30. Police put out an alert for the vehicle.
