Danforth Art Receives $130,000 in Donations; Launches Half Million Move Campaign

Last month, Framingham Source was the first media outlet to report that the Danforth Art Museum\School must vacate the Danforth Building by September 1.

The museum and school said it would cost them more than a half million to prepare for the move and must begin the process to final a temporary home.

This week, the museum and school launched #GoForthDanforth, a campaign to raise that $500,000.

On its website, it says “two generous supporters kicked off #GoForthDanforth with $130,000. They are challenging our community to donate today to reach our current #GoForthDanforth goal of $500,000.”

The museum and school said it will anounce temporary solutions by mid-July.

Anyone, who would like to make donation, can do so online at https://www.razoo.com/us/story/Goforthdanforth or mail a check to the development office at Danforth Art, 123 Union Avenue, Framingham, MA 01702

The school and museum said the money is needed for “both the anticipated ongoing operating costs and the new and more pressing costs of this immediate move. Financial contributions made now will help cover: packing and moving expenses for our Permanent Collection; refitting and preparing temporary spaces; and general moving expenses and operating support during this transition.”
