MetroWest Chamber Awards Kelleher Scholarship to Basketball Captain, Class Treasurer

The MetroWest Chamber of Commerce awarded the MetroWest Chamber Walter Kelleher Memorial Scholarship to Sarah Bertschmann, a Hopkinton High senior.

Bertschmann, who plans to earn a degree in early childhood education in the fall, is the second recipient of the Kelleher Scholarship.

With experience as a teacher assistant at Kuman and shadowing several teachers in the Hopkinton elementary schools, she has a passion for helping young children learn and exceed in the classroom.

The $1,000 Walter M. Kelleher Memorial Scholarship is for a student wishing to pursue early childhood education.

In addition to excelling in AP classes and being a member of the National Honor Society, Bertschmann is the class treasurer, captain of the varsity basketball team, and has a lot of volunteer experience in her community.

The MetroWest Chamber of Commerce, headquartered in Framingham, held its education foundation scholarship reception on Tuesday at Staples headquarters in Framingham.

The MetroWest Chamber Educational Foundation Scholarships were established to assist public or private high school seniors who reside in the MetroWest area and wish to continue their education beyond high school, whether in college, vocational or technical schools.
