The Framingham High instrumental music director Brian Cervone is on leave.
The leave began this week. And Cervone will not be with the award-winning jazz band on Sunday, May 15 when they perform at the Hatch Shell in Boston at noon.
“Brian will not be there,” said Framingham Superintendent Stacy L. Scott.
The jazz band won a gold medal earlier in the year to be eligible for the honor of performing at the Hatch Shell.
Scott said “Cervone is currently out and administration is working to cover his classes and activities.”
“There is coverage scheduled for each event since Brian is unavailable at present,” said Scott.
The Superintendent did not state why Cervone is on leave.
Miss Thomas has been filling in for Cervone in class at Framingham High.
It is not known who will travel with the jazz band when they perform, but Scott said there has been “no cancellation (of the performance) that I am aware of.”
Scott updated his statement after Source published. Source updated the report to reflect that change.
