6th Annual Framingham Earth Day Festival April 30

The 6th Annual Framingham Earth Day Festival will take place on Saturday, April 30.

The event’s focus is to support Framingham on its journey towards sustainability, and to make eco-friendly information and lifestyle choices more easily accessible to members of the community.

What began as an idea to bring together environmental organizations, sustainable products, and interested community members in a fun and natural environment, has now grown into an event featuring more than 75 vendors.

This year’s event takes place at the Framingham Centre Common from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. In the case of rain, the event moves to Framingham High School.

Attendees at this year’s event can learn about ways to conserve energy, make sustainable choices, support local businesses, preserve natural habitats, and of course, reduce, reuse and recycle.

There will be live music, kids activities, and workshops.

One workshop already planned is How to Forage for Wild Food with Rachel Goclawski. She will explain sustainable and safe foraging while teaching how to identify, prepare and preserve certain plants, along with their nutritional and/or medicinal value. She is a wild foods foraging guide, programming partner with the Sudbury Valley Trustees, and programming partner with the Girl Scouts of Eastern Massachusetts. She is a Massachusetts Certified Educator and U.S. Army Information Technology Specialist currently assigned to a Green Energy Testing camp in Devens.

There will be also be recycling opportunities, including a foam recycling event off site at Grace Congregational Church from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The Framingham Earth Day Festival is a “Zero Waste Event.” All food waste created from the festival is recycled or composted.
