FRAMINGHAM – Lois Ann Murray, age 93, who resided at the Carlyle House in Framingham and formerly of Mattapoisett, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 24th, 2023, after a period of declining health.

Born and raised in Harrisville, WV, she was the daughter of Orpha (Adams) Flesher and Oliver Alonzo Flesher and stepdaughter of John P. Hardway.

She was the beloved wife of 48 years of the late Philip Murray from Rachel, West Virginia Lois was a graduate of West Virginia University where she met her husband on a blind date and majored in voice.

She served as a choir director at many of the churches wherever her family moved. In her younger years she gave voice and piano lessons, participated in community theater, and sang at weddings. She greatly enjoyed attending musical performances and plays. She was well traveled, visiting multiple destinations around the globe with her beloved husband and friends. Lois was an avid volunteer in her church and community: Mattapoisett Women’s Club, Great Decisions group, the New Bedford Whaling Museum and driving for FISH. She treasured the fellowship of good friends and loved her bridge and mahjong groups. Her most cherished life’s work was her role as a wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

Lois is survived by her 3 children, Judy Homer of Ashland, Sandy Murray of Arden, NC, and Matthew Murray of Mattapoisett, two grandchildren, Lauren McDonald of Ashland, and Kevin Homer of Waltham, one great grandson, Owen McDonald, and several nieces and nephews. She is pre-deceased by her sister, Ruth Rymer.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday April 1st, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at the Mattapoisett Congregational Church, 27 Church St., Mattapoisett, MA 02739.
