FRAMINGHAM – Frances “Nena” P. Rose McGarrell, 91, a longtime resident of Framingham, emerged from her cocoon, dried off her wings and soared to the heavens on the glorious morning of March 18, 2023.

Frances was a supportive and loving mother to her only son Louis Molan of Framingham, she is also survived by her granddaughters, Janeen of Naples, FL, Julie of Hudson, MA, and four great grandchildren, Christopher, Aipryl, Hailey and Madison, her sister,  Diana Cavanaugh of Boston, and several nieces, nephews and many friends.
She was predeceased by her parents Thomas and Jenny Rose of South Boston, five brothers and two sisters.

A hard worker, Frances made her own way, retiring after 28 years at Polaroid working in the lab.

With time to enjoy, her hobbies included reading poetry, prayers, writing letters to family and the local newspaper. She enjoyed painting, music and dancing. She could often be found dancing the jitterbug with long term companion Gilbert C. Burns at John Stones Public House. They even had their own table.

Nena loved all things in nature-walks at Castle Island, cooking, and finding homeopathic remedies. Garlic, green tea and honey were her go-to’s. She could be found many a day in her favorite denim skirt raking leaves, feeding the birds and rabbits. She knew all the herbs, trees and flowers of her beloved town of Framingham.  Taking a particular liking to her namesake Rose and a penchant for pink, her personality was truly as gentle and beautiful as the Rose itself.

Rest in Peace Nena. Sparkle like you always do! May you flutter, fly and dance in the wind-Forever Free

Family and friends will honor and remember Frances’ life by gathering for a time of visitation in the McCarthy, McKinney & Lawler Funeral Home, 11 Lincoln St. Framingham on Friday, March 24 from 4 to 5:45 p.m. A funeral service will follow in the funeral home at 6p.m.

Interment will be private.
