ASHLAND – The Town of Ashland has nearly completed the construction of a brand new public safety building at 12 Union Street. This facility will house the Ashland Police and Fire Departments and provide state of the art support for the dedicated teams. The completion of this building creates a vacancy at the current Fire Station located at 151 Main Street.
The Town of Ashland has posted a Request for Proposals (RFP) for any parties interested in the reuse of this property. The town is seeking a partner to lease this space and create a destination for residents and visitors.
The Fire Station was built in 1927 and served as the main fire station in Ashland prior to a new building at Cedar Street. The building is approximately 4,637 sq/ft +/- on two (2) floors and includes 18 parking spaces. The site is centrally located in downtown Ashland and is surrounded by commercial and residential buildings.

“This site provides an opportunity for a community partner to bring something that complements the significant investment we have made in our downtown,” said Ashland Town Manager Michael Herbert. “this location is ideal for a business or organization to utilize and add to the vibrancy of the area.”
Over the past two years the Town has invested in a major streetscape project in the downtown area. This project includes undergrounding utilities, paving, new sidewalks, and lighting and placemaking areas.
“This is the perfect time to invest in Ashland”, said Beth Reynolds, Director of Economic Development and Community Outreach. “This location can act as a hub of activity within the downtown. I am excited to see what will happen here.”
