Natick Redhawks Defeat Framingham Flyers 85-14; Terranova Wins 300-Meter Race

BOSTON – Natick High girls indoor track & field team defeated Framingham High at the Reggie Lewis Center in Boston on Thursday evening, January 12.

The Redhawks won 85-14.

This was Natick’s first win of the season.

The Flyers are still seeking their first team win.

Natick’s Lyla Sneed won the dash in 8.04 seconds. Framingham’s Evelyn Poku finished second in 81.18 seconds. Natick also took third place for a 6-3 lead to start the meet.

That is the closest Framingham was to winning all evening.

After sweeping the 300-meter event, Natick had a 15-3 lead. Eliza Campana won the event 45.78 seconds. Brook Spiegel was second with Sarah Golden third.

One highlight for the Flyers was Ella Terranova winning the 600-meter event in 1:46.23 minutes. Natick took second and third place.

Redhawks had a 19-8 lead after three events.

Natick swept the 1,000-meter event to go ahead 28-8 in the meet.

Rowan Shumaker won the event in 3:18.68 minutes. Angelina Wing was second and Viviana Mariano was third.

Natick finished 1-2 in the mile event. Lea Adelmann won the event in 6:01.40 minutes. Audrey Lin was second for the Redhawks.

The Redhawks swept the high jump event.

Greta Makintosh finished first with a leap of 4-feet and 8-inches. Caroline Niedermeyer was second and Elsa Bashor was third.

Natick’s Sophie Johnson won the long jump in 14 feet and 5.75 inches.

Framingham picked up a point in the meet when Tija Dilba finished third in the long jump.

Natick’s Lemon Cricket won the shot put event with a throw of 35 feet and 8 inches.

Redhawk Angela Leavey was second at 32 feet and 9 inches.

Framingham’s Lindsay Noah was third.

Alyssa Peasley won the hurdles in 9.23 seconds.

Sophomore Marie Scanlon earned the Flyers 3 more points by finishing second in the high hurdles event. Her time was 9.81 seconds.

Natick’s won both relay races to go up 77-14 with just the two mile event left in the meet.

The Flyers entered no runners, and Natick’s Alison warren at 12.10 minutes and Samantha McMorrow at 14:29 minutes finished first and second in the event.
