NEWTON – Newton-Wellesley Hospital, a member of Mass General Brigham, has been awarded six nationally recognized 2023 Women’s Choice Awards for providing exceptional care to female patients in six specialty areas.

Newton-Wellesley was honored for bariatrics, mammogram imaging, minimally invasive surgery, obstetrics, orthopedics, and breast care.

The hospital was ranked within the top 7% in all the categories in which it was honored, including in the top 1% in breast care and the top 2% in orthopedics.

“Our physicians, nurses, and support staff are honored to serve the women of our community and meet a wide variety of their urgent, ambulatory, and primary healthcare needs,” said Dr. Sareh Parangi, Chair of Newton-Wellesley’s Department of Surgery and Women in Medicine Committee. “Whether it’s an annual exam, an urgent procedure, or treatment for a chronic issue, our specialists and their teams are dedicated to providing high-quality care close to home.”

The Women’s Choice Awards is the only national list of hospitals focused exclusively on excellence in caring for female patients. This recognition is based on robust criteria centered on clinical performance and patient satisfaction and incorporates data from more than 4,700 facilities across the U.S. Awardees are noted for providing the highest level of care and commitment to their female patients and ensuring their overall wellbeing.

“At Newton-Wellesley, we pride ourselves on providing the safest and most equitable care possible not only for women, but for all our patients,” said Dr. Errol R. Norwitz, President and CEO of Newton-Wellesley. “This prestigious recognition is a testament to the personalized, compassionate care our patients – of all gender identities and backgrounds – know and expect to receive at our hospital.”

The Awards’ methodology utilizes the most recent publicly available information from The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), as well as accreditation information. In some cases, the awards utilize surveys of tens of thousands of women, as well as research conducted in partnership with the Wharton School of Business.
