ASHLAND – Patrick Gerald Hanrahan, 37, of Ashland passed away unexpectedly on November 26, 2022.
He was the son of Kim (Henchy) Hanrahan and the late Vincent Hanrahan.
Patrick was born in Providence, RI and moved to Ashland when he was a child.
He attended Ashland schools and then received his degree from Bridgewater State University in 2007.
Patrick was a project manager specializing in international construction. He began his career in 2007 in the Middle East, working in Jordan, Iraq, and Afghanistan. After working in the Middle East his work took him to Texas and then Mexico where he spent six years working on one of the largest breweries in the world. He worked in Puerto Rico with the restoration of the US Customs House in San Juan before returning to the United States, and most recently home to work in Boston and settle here with his son.
Patrick took advantage of his time working abroad and traveled to many different countries and cities during his time off, collecting many unusual and beautiful things. He made many wonderful friends from all over the world to whom he was still in contact with today.
Patrick was an avid sports fan, and was an exceptional athlete in high school, excelling in basketball and football. He especially loved the Celtics, going to as many games as he could. He always made sure he had every sports channel when he was working out of the country.
Patrick was a devoted and loving father who adored his son. His greatest pleasure was spending time with Mason, at the beach, the zoo, spending the day exploring Boston and finding new adventures, and planning a trip to Disney World.
Patrick and his brothers shared a great love and were each other’s best friend. He was a role model and a mentor to whom they always turned to for advice. He was devoted to his mother and was her strength after the passing of his father in 2019.
Besides his mother, Patrick is survived by his son Mason, 4, of Ashland; his brothers, Ryan Hanrahan, 31, and his partner Jill Deiana of Hopkinton; Colin Hanrahan, 24, and his partner Janelle Bourque of Ashland; Terrel Newton of Warwick, RI; his best friend Chris Severo; his grandmother Carol Henchy of Cape Vincent, NY; his uncles: Steven Henchy of Fall River; Chris Henchy and his wife Sue of Cape Vincent, NY; Joseph Henchy and his wife Annette of Fall River; Gerald Hanrahan; Thomas Hanrahan; his aunts: Barbara Henchy of Franklin and Paula Zhonghi, along with many cousins. He is also survived by his nephew Cillian Hanrahan who was very precious to him. He was predeceased by his father, Vincent, his brother Sean Hanrahan whom he loved with all his heart, and his grandfather, Harold Henchy who was Patrick’s biggest fan.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Mon. Dec. 5 at 9:00am in St. Cecilia’s Parish, 54 Esty Street in Ashland, with burial to follow in Wildwood Cemetery in Ashland. There are no calling hours.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
