SUDBURY -Sudbury Police and Sudbury Fire rescued a hunter suspended upside down from the Assabet Wildlife Refude this morning, November 10.
Dispatchers “received a 9-1-1 call from a hunter who had his tree stand malfunction in the Assabet Wildlife Refuge. The hunter became suspended upside down approximately 3-4 feet in the air,” posted Sudbury Police on social media.
“Dispatchers were able to geolocate the phone coordinates and pass them on to police and fire personnel,” said Police.

The Police department’s “drone unit and our utility vehicle were put into service to locate the stranded hunter,” said Police.
“After approximately 15 minutes the uninjured male was located by our UTV team and brought to safety by police and fire personnel. This rescue epitomizes the teamwork between our dispatchers, police officers and fire fighters,” said Police on social media.
