After 3 Year Hiatus, Saxonville Haunted Yard Returns Tonight

FRAMINGHAM – Halloween is one of the most widely celebrated nights of the year with people waiting for frights that chill to the bone.

This year, Corrine and Mike Sonia are back holding their annual Saxonville Haunted Yard event Oct. 22 to have a howlingly good time as October 31st sneaks up.

This is the first time the event is back up and running after 3 years after the EEE outbreak and the COVID-19 pandemic forced Corrine and Mike Sonia to take a break from hosting the event.

October is full of spooky celebrations and Halloween is especially important for Corrine Sonia sharing her birthday with the most haunting night of the year.

“We love Halloween because it is the one time a year you can dress up and be anything you want – the possibilities are endless! My birthday is also on Halloween which makes it double the fun,” she said.

The Sonia’s have been hosting this event since 2016 and it all began with a love for the Halloween spirit and love of hosting parties for all to come together and have fun.

“Mike and I thought about this and agreed that it’s the feeling we have during and after the event that has given us the best memories. We love seeing the guests enjoy themselves and know the children that come through will never forget the experience. Having our family and friends be in it with us and part of the whole process is amazing – we just all have so much fun,” she said.

This year, although attending the event is free of cost, the couple is asking for any amount of donations that will be donated to Daniel’s Table of the Saxonville community.

Corrine Sonia said, “Although the pandemic seems to be mostly behind us, a lingering effect is the increase in the cost of all goods. With food prices increasing as steeply as they have, food insecurity has risen as well. Daniel’s Table does so much in our community to help stave off that insecurity, and we want to support their efforts.”

If anyone is looking for a night of fright Oct.22, be sure to stop by for Sonia’s annual Haunted yard event held from 6:30-9:30 p.m.

Admission is free and snacks and cider will be provided for guests by Darlene & Company of Lamacchia Realty.

Danielle Achin is a fall 2022 SOURCE intern. She is a senior English major with a concentration in journalism and a minor in psychology at Framingham State University. Danielle has been an athlete since she started gymnastics at age 4. She joined the Framingham State cheerleading team freshman year and recently won the 2022 National Cheerleaders Association (NCA) National Championship for the first time in Framingham State history.
