FRAMINGHAM – Students at Brophy Elementary School need winter coats, snow pants, mittens, snow boots, according to Brophy Elementary School PTO.
The PTO was notified “many families are in need of winter gear for their children, and can not afford it,” said PTO President Lori Moser.
“We are running a Winter Gear Drive on Amazon,” said Moser.

In 2018, the national nonprofit Operation Warm visited Brophy Elementary and gave every student a new winter coat as a part of its “More Than A Coat” program.
But that program is not coming to Brophy this school year.
More than 60% of the students at the elementary school are considered low income, according to the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.
“We are running a winter gear drive this year to make sure everyone is ready for the cold and snow. We are focused on embracing our diverse community, and making sure everyone feels included in all of our activities. Wintertime in New England is all about playing in the snow, and we want all of our kids joining in the fun for sledding, snowman-building, snowball fights, and maybe even a little shoveling,” said Moser.
