BOSTON – The United States surpassed 1.3 million coronavirus cases today, May 9.
The Commonwealth of Massachusetts reported 1,410 new cases in the last 24 hours. That brings the total number of positive cases in Massachusetts to 76,743.
Massachusetts ranks third in the United States behind New York, and New Jersey for the most positive cases.
The state tested 10,514 individuals in the last 24 hours
As of May 9 at 4 p.m., the state has tested 376,537 individuals.

The Commonwealth of Massachusetts reported 138 deaths COVID-19 today, May 9. That brings the total number of fatalities due to the coronavirus since the pandemic in Massachusetts to 4,840
There is no cure and no vaccine for COVID-19, at this time.

Two weeks ago, the number of COVID-19 cases hospitalized was at 9%. A good sign is the number has been 5% over the weekend and every day this week, until yesterday & today, when it dropped to 4%.
Another good sign, the number of individuals in ICUs in the state is under 850 for the first time today.
Middlesex County has the most positive cases at 17,307. In comparison, Barnstable County on Cape Cod has 1,056 cases.
Framingham has the most cases in MetroWest at almost 1,200 cases. The City of Framingham has not released its number for today, May 9. The City of Framingham is also among the top 20 communities with coronavirus cases in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
