UMass Dartmouth Ends Framingham State’s 20-Game Conference Win Streak

DARTMOUTH – The Framingham State University football team saw their 20-game conference winning streak snappedSaturday afternoon as they were defeated 46-21 by UMass Dartmouth in a Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) tilt at Cressy Field. 

It was the first time UMass Dartmouth has defeated Framingham State since 2016.

Framingham State is now 1-2 and 0-1 in the MASCAC

UMass Dartmouth is now 2-1 overall.

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

• The Corsairs got on the board first just over a minute into the game on a 24-yard touchdown pass from Dante Aviles-Santos to Mike Vincent. 
• The Corsairs extended the lead to 14-0 midway through the first on a 22-yard touchdown pass from Aviles-Santos to Angel Sanchez. 
• The Rams got on the board with just over two minutes left in the opening quarter on an 18-yard touchdown run by Devaun Ford. Matt Farley converted the extra point cutting the deficit to 14-7. 
• The Corsairs opened the second quarter with a 24-yard field goal from Braedyn DeMarco pushing the lead to 17-7.

• After an interception stopped the Rams drive, Aviles-Santos converted on fourth down for a 23-yard touchdown pass to Keenan Little with 1:37 left in the second quarter. 
• After another Ram turnover, the Corsairs added a final touchdown to lead 29-7 at the half. 
• The Corsairs scored ten points off a pair of Rams turnovers to start the third quarter, before Jaden Lewis returned a kickoff 90 yards for a touchdown. 
• Each team would add a touchdown in the fourth quarter to reach the final margin. Terry Smith completed a six-yard touchdown pass to Darrell Coombs to account for the Rams final score of the game.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: 

• The Rams, who’s last MASCAC loss came on September 13, 2018, against Plymouth State, turned the ball over six times in the game including four in the first half leading to a pair of Corsair first half touchdowns. 
• The Corsairs amassed 474 yards in the game including 321 yards passing, while the Rams compiled 212 total yards including 200 on the ground. 
• Ford rushed for 143 yards in the game on 3 carries with a touchdown for the Rams, while Nick Goffredo rushed for 40 yards on five carries. 
• Aviles-Santos completed 18-of-36 passes for 321 yards and four touchdowns with a pick. Sanchez finished the game with five catches for 161 yards and two scores. 
• Dylan DeWolfe paced the Rams defense with eight total tackles, including four solo, with a sack and a fumble recovery. 
• Gerell Boyce and Cully Curran chipped in with seven tackles apiece, while Chase Buono added six.  

The Rams are back in action next Saturday when they travel to Westfield at 1:30 p.m.
