FRAMINGHAM – Donald E. “Don” Hallisey died on August 24, 2022, after a long illness.
A devoted husband, father, and papa, he leaves his wife Judi, daughter Melinda (Chris), and his two beloved grandsons.
He also leaves his sister Maura, brother-in-law Philip, sister-in-law Carol, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents Dorothy and Daniel, and his brother Robert.
After spending most of his childhood in Medford, he graduated from Malden Catholic High School, attended Boston College and was the first member of his family to graduate from college.
After serving in the Army, he enjoyed a successful career in typewriter, personal computer, and IT contract sales.
Don had an ear for music, and when he was young, played the saxophone in marching and dance bands. He loved listening to big bands and Dixieland jazz. He also played the piano for fun. He loved to travel, and while planning family vacations, could be found happily studying maps and travel books. His innate sense of direction was a gift. He also enjoyed quiet time at home reading and helping his wife care for the family’s many pets.
But possibly his greatest passion was Boston College athletics. For decades he held season tickets to multiple sports. Over the years he made friends with many fans, including multiple generations of the same family.
Always quick to smile, Don usually had a sarcastic comment, funny story or one of his many sayings ready to share with people to make them laugh. He will be remembered for many things including his sense of humor, good nature, and kindness toward others.
Family and friends are invited to a visitation on September 17, from 10-11 a.m. at Norton Funeral Home, 53 Beech Street in Framingham.
The burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in Don’s memory to the Boston College Flynn Fund for Athletics at: Boston College Athletic Development, 320 Conte Forum, 140 Commonwealth Ave, Chestnut Hill, MA 02467 (https://flynnfund.bceagles.com/giving)
