FRAMINGHAM – Francis S. “Frank” Kelley, 87, a lifelong resident of Framingham, died Tuesday, July 19, 2022 after a short illness.

Born and raised in Framingham, he was the son of the late Frank Martin and Mary Irene (Muise) Kelley.

During the Korean War era, Francis served in the U.S. Navy from 1954-1958, when he was honorably discharged after achieving the rank of (EM-1) Electrician’s Mate 1st Class.

He was an electrician by trade and worked for at Dennison Mfg. Co. after his discharge. He then went to work for Honeywell and retired after 25 years there.

At St. Stephen Parish in Framingham, “Frank” as he was lovingly known, was a faithful and devoted member of the Parish Family. He had served for many years at St. Linus Parish under Fr. Gigi. When Fr. Gigi retired, Frank joined his sister Rita and her husband John King at St. Stephen’s. He quickly became of great service to the Parish, serving at Masses. He quickly became the official Parish Sacristan. He would open the church every morning and set up for Mass. During Lent and Advent he would do this twice a day. Frank was loved and respected by all who met him, especially by the Parish Priests and staff. He was very devoted to the three Priests and would set up the Altar as each one preferred. They often took him out to lunch to show their gratitude.

Frank was a man of few words, but certainly enjoyed those fraternal moments with the Priests. As Fr. Paco says, “He will be greatly missed, he was a prayerful and sincerely devoted man. Now he will be serving the Eternal Priest, our Lord Jesus Christ, in heaven.”

Francis is survived by his son Steven Kelley, two grandchildren and a great grandchild, as well as nieces, nephews and several cousins. Francis also leaves behind his extended family of friends, neighbors and the parishioners of St. Stephen and St. Linus Parishes.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend his visiting hours on Monday, July 25, 2022 from 4 – 7 p.m. at the Norton Funeral Home, 53 Beech St. (corner of Union Ave.) Framingham.

His funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 26, 2022 at 10 a.m. in St. Stephen Parish, 251 Concord St. (Rt. 126) Framingham.

Burial will follow in St. Stephen Cemetery, Framingham.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in Francis’ memory may be made to St. Stephen Parish, 221 Concord St., Framingham, MA 01702.
