FRAMINGHAM – Framingham Fire extinguished a 2-alarm fire at the Framingham Country Club on Saturday night, April 2.

The fire was reported at 16 Gates Street at 9:45 p.m. but firefighters were on the scene as late as 3 a.m. Around 11 p.m. it went to a second alarm.

Framingham Fire received a 9-1-1- call for smoke coming from the maintenance building at the Framingham Country Club, said Framingham Fire Chief Michael Dutcher.

Engine 1, Engine 7, Engine 5, Tower 1, Rescue 1 & Car 2 responded.

On arrival companies found fire coming from the building, said Chief Dutcher Sunday morning.

“Companies began to attack from the interior but due to some access issues and the nature of the type of building, it housed chemicals related to golf course maintenance, defensive operations were ordered by Car 2,” said Chief Dutcher to SOURCE.

“Water supply for defensive operations presented some challenges, so a second alarm was struck to get additional staffing to the scene,” said Chief Dutcher to the digital news media outlet.

Second alarm brought Engine 2, Engine 3, Ladder 3 to the scene.

All on duty Framingham companies were on scene and a second water supply was established, said Chief Dutcher.

“For several hours the structure was wet down until fire was declared under control,” said Chief Dutcher.

“Companies remained on scene to put out hot spots and completely extinguish,” said Chief Dutcher.

No injuries reported and fire cause is still being investigated.

“Building is a total loss along with many golf course maintenance vehicles,” said Chief Dutcher.

“Thanks to Ashland, Natick Wayland, Sudbury & Sudbury for providing coverage for the city during the fire.  Each mutual aid company was busy, with multiple responses for each department.  Additional thanks to Brewster Ambulance, Framingham Water Dept and Framingham Police for their efforts during the fire,” said Chief Dutcher Sunday morning.
